Carine’s fire protection team developed an alternative design request and obtained fire department approval for protection systems necessary to obtain beneficial use of the top-loading automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) in a new 500,000 square foot distribution facility. The fire department issued a corrective-action notice weeks prior to facility opening. Following approval, Carine’s project management team oversaw contractor buyouts, design and submittal review and approval, installation, testing, and obtained the certificate of occupancy in record time. Carine’s solution mitigated significant operational disruption for DHL and its customers.
