Steven Walker has extensive fire protection and hazardous operation experience for multi-discipline design of industrial, commercial, health care, research, and production facilities. Industries he has served include residential, office, hospitality, bio-pharmaceutical, petro-chemical, motor vehicle manufacturing, power generation, aerospace, and micro-electronics. Project phases Mr. Walker has worked include zoning approval, environmental assessments, design, permitting, construction, start-up, and commissioning.

Fire Protection & Life Safety – Experienced with the design, construction, and commissioning of smoke control, fire barriers, evacuation systems, sprinkler, fire alarm, fire detection, fire pumps, fire mains, clean agent fire extinguishing, carbon dioxide, water mist, water tanks and special hazard systems. Familiar with building codes, fire codes, and OSHA requirements for building and industrial processes. Evaluates existing facilities and negotiates with code enforcement officials. Prepares code equivalency requests when the letter of the code is not achievable. Knowledgeable with testing laboratory fire-rated assembly tests and obtaining equipment approval.

Project Management – Manages or supports the Project Manager of multi-discipline design teams for utility improvements, new processes, upgrades of existing facilities, hazardous material dispensing and processing, building expansions, back-up power, security systems, and fire protection driven modifications. Led engineering teams in evaluations of process equipment, seismic, emergency power, HVAC and critical utility systems.

Hazardous Process Evaluation – Performs business impact assessments on complex industrial processes to help clients prioritize risks and develop mitigation strategies. Identifies Fire Code hazardous material classifications and exempt limits for ordinary occupancies. Inspects hazardous processes for regulatory compliance, including electrical classified locations, containment, incompatible material separation, personnel hazards, and production interruption risks.

Construction Management – Worked many years on construction sites performing progress inspections, system coordination, acceptance tests, punch list reviews, start-up, and commissioning.
